Hey guys,

I am new to RE and am wondering what types of RE jobs out there that you can do part time/maybe even full time to earn some money while spending most of my time learning RE on my own through books, networking, meetings, etc. Basically, I want to get on the fast track to RE investing while earning money and getting practical experience at the same time. Any recommendations appreciated! Thank you.

PM
But why?
Best bet is to take non RE job your best at to make more money = more funds for real estate = more financing

You do have a good point. However, in my situation, I think experience in RE is more important than $$ right now. I`ll do just about anything as long as it is RE related and I can learn.

I don`t think I can use the PM function because I`m not currently a REIN member.

Why? You have lots of $$ and don`t need $$ ?
Sorry Pm = Property management
If your in KW you can start tomorrow

LOL. No I don`t have a lot of $$`s, but I do have some saves yes
. And If I did live in KY i`d be giving you a call right about now
But I live in Edmonton hehe.

sorry Jason, I honestly don`t get it. Don`t you prefer learning through investing? if you read Don`s book just buy your first property (after doing the due diligence explained there).

No job in the world will teach you more than your first property!!! Nothing like learning from experience, jumping into the water.

The reason is no matter how much time you`ll spend to "prepare" you will still find that eventually the purchasing process itself, actually owning a property, managing it etc. is the biggest lesson of all. Therefore, why waste your time when you can read Don`s book in a week and start your property due diligence. few month later you`re a property owner...

It`s unfortunate so many people "have to" waste so much time because of a personal comfort level issue. it`s not really a knowledge issue. in most cases it`s personal.
so perhaps read a book on psychology related to this issue rather than fixing toilets for a year or doing any other property related job. I hope this helps and you do not take it the wrong way. I am aware of the fact millions are postponing investing for the same reason and billions avoid investing at all.

Good luck,
Neil

It does help to learn to swim before jumping in the water .. or swim in shallow water .. as you can drown in the deep end ..

but yes, getting wet is the best way to learn to swim .. but be prepared please !

RE related job: not really required .. required is CASH to start .. and income from non-RE while you build a portfolio .. so ANY (decent paying) job that allows time to do real estate part-time will do

Since no one has given you any ideas yet, here are a few.

Property Manager
Home Inspector
Real Estate Agent
Bookkeeper
mortgage broker
accountant
lawyer
city planning dept.
any construction/trades jobs
home appraiser
bank
financial planner

I think that all the previous posts are true but you asked for some ideas. Of course, working as a financial planner or bank teller don`t put you inline with RE but they can move you in that direction. I would also consider jobs which allow for networking such as sales. this puts you in contact with potential JV partners which could be very advantageous.
