I don`t know if Kijiji has a fraud reporting mechanism. If they do, report it to them.

You are the second that I am aware of to report this scenario.

Ther is a fraud reporting option and this is not the only thing that is happening.
Every once in a while they will advertise a car, quad or sled tjhat is like new for about 1/3 of what it should be.
I was interested in a quad this guy was selling, and he wanted me to put my money into a 3rd party delivery service and then once I got the product I would have a month to decide whether or not to keep it.
At which time the delivery service would release funds. It sounded legit to me but I really was just going to take a little time off and drive to the location and pick it up myself, so I requested their phone # so I could call and arange a deal to come and pick it up in person. And this is when it got re3ally weird, they told me that there was something wrong with their phone and that it could call out but couldn`t receive calls and that the telephone company was going to come fix it in a couple of days, therefore I was unable to call them directly. So I decided to look up the delivery company on the internet to see if I could get more info on them, as I had never heard of them before. I found their website but when I called their number I got a hold of someone totally different in England!!
So I went down to the Police station to see if they could help to see if the quad was stolen since I had the serial #. It wasn`t reported but told me that the week before someone had come in to make a report that they had sent away $10000 for a BMW online and never received the car and can`t get a hold of anyone from where he had sent the money, so he got scammed out of his money with nothing he could do about it.
So as a curiousity I looked up the local Yamaha dealer in Whitehorse ( Where he was from supposedly ) and called them with the serial # to see if they could let me know who the owner was , since this was only 6 months old I figured it would be on their records still. When he pulled up the serial# for me it showed that it was purchased by a totally different guy who had bought it in Saskatoon and lived in Estavan still. So with his Name I looked up his phone # in Estavan and called him up , to which I wasn`t to surprised to find out that his quad was sittng comfortably in his garage outside and was not for sale.

So in doing my due dilegence on that quad which would have only cost me $2900 but still out of pocket if I sent it , ended up with a pretty good laugh about it and just don`t respond to them anymore at all. And you still see them on there once in a while. I

Wow that was a lot of writing but I figured everyone should know about that guy, and also it seems like it is always for under $3000, maybe so that if he gets caught it will fall into a lower criminal act or something .

Good luck
Warren
