Checking Status of Property

Hello, I`m new to the property investment world. After several deals falling through, I am now looking at purchasing a Triplex in the GTA. The seller has told me that the triplex is legal and registered with the city as such.

How do I go about checking on the status/legality of the property?

Go to City Hall with the legal description and municipal address of the property and ask all the questions required in your due diligence on this subject. Tell the Seller you intend to do this and ask if they have any documents that would help you in this. If they aren`t telling the truth it will likely come out then, as they may not want to have a flag raised on the property at City Hall.
