Has everyone received their 2009 Property Assessment Notice from the City of Calgary by now.
I see my property valve has dropped 5.5%. from last year
Also my taxes are lower too.

Hi
Yes I have also received my assessment. The property value dropped $15,000 but my Property tax increased to $ 25.00....So it really depends what neighbourhood you are living in.

Hi,
My value is down 5.7% (Rocky Ridge), I don`t think we know what the new property tax will be though as they haven`t set that yet (says we get notice in May). The amount on the assessment is just an indication based on no change to 2008 rates but they are most likely going up at least 5%, so I`m not counting on taxes actually going down just yet!

I just sold my residence (3Bd TH) in Killarney for $40,000 less than the assessment, (but actual value) and the actual assesment is up from last year as well. I wonder if they will get any complaints this year? (grin) what would you rather...be a tax assessor or a parking cop?!!!

Strange:

I live in Killarney and my assessment shows I dropped a whole $1000 in value on my property but of course, the taxes shot up. HMMMM. Comments?

ok, I pulled the actual file and it shows I sold for $24,500.00 (not 40, my bad...I have quite a few in the folder and shouldnt go from memory) less than the assesment of 2008...which is UP $62500 from 2007....when the property was actually worth $71,000.00 more than in 2007... go figure!

good time to buy? I am moving to Calgary in August, and will be looking for a condo to purchase. Hopefully the prices don`t bounce back too much (although from a sellers perspective you would wish the opposite)
